The government has recently given a boost to some scientific companies in the form of the new tax break announced on patents.

This will allow international companies to pay reduced taxes on all sales resulting from a new patent and will be particularly attractive to drug companies and bio science companies.

Investment in this area has drifted away from this country due to high taxes facing drug companies, but this will now act as a powerful incentive to restart production here and two of the major drug companies have already announced multi million pound investments as a result, investment which would have been made in countries with lower tax rates if it had not been for this new rule.

One company has already announced that they will be building a new drug production factory here which will mean thousands of extra jobs over the next few years. This is a major step for scientific investment in this country, and a wise move by the government to bring back companies to the UK.
